چکیده

Here we report the discovery of very high energy (> 100GeV) γ-ray emission from the radio emitting X-ray binary LS I +61 303 with the Major Atmospheric Gamma Imaging Cherenkov (MAGIC) telescope. This high energy emission has been found to be variable, detected 4 days after the periastron passage and lasting for several days. The data have been taken along different orbital cycles, and the fact that the detections occur at similar orbital phases, suggests that the emission is periodic. Two different scenarios have been involved to explain this high energy emission: the microquasar scenario where the γ-rays are produced in a radio-emitting jet; or the pulsar binary scenario, where they are produced in the shock which is generated by the interaction of a pulsar wind and the wind of the massive companion.

Very high energy γ-rays have recently been detected from the microquasar LS I +61 303 using the MAGIC telescope. A phenomenological study on the concomitant neutrinos that would be radiated if the γ-ray emission is hadronic in origin is herein presented. Neutrino oscillations are considered, and the expected number of events in a km-scale detector such as ICECUBE is computed under different ass...

During its first cycle, the MAGIC (Major Atmospheric Gamma-ray Imaging Cherenkov) telescope was performing an observational campaign covering a total of about 250 hours on galactic sources. Here we review the results for the very high energy (> 100 GeV) γ-ray emission from some of those sources.

Microquasars (MQs) present emission over the whole spectrum, from radio wavelengths to gamma-rays. The microquasar spectral energy distribution is very complex, being a signature of the different physical processes that generate the radiation emitted by these objects. In this work, we estimate the amount of broad-band emission produced by relativistic protons, released from the jet of a MQ, int...

LS I +61 303 is one of the most studied X-ray binary systems because of its two peculiarities: On the one hand being the probable counterpart of the variable gamma ray source 2CG 135+01 [1, 2] and on the other hand being a periodic radio source [3]. The recent discovery of a radio emitting jet extending ca. 200 AU at both sides of a central core [4] in all evidence has shown the occurrence of a...

HD 16429 A is a triple star system consisting of a single-lined spectroscopic binary and a widely separated third component, previously identified via speckle interferometry. Here I present the first orbital elements for the unblended spec-troscopic binary as well as estimates of the spectral types and relative flux contributions for each visible component based upon a Doppler tomographic recon...
